My child has a learning disability. Can the Character Center for Kids help?

We've worked with hundreds of children, all with different academic goals and problems. We have many children who either are now, or have been in Special Education programs. We have found that we have been able to help most children with learning difficulties. We understand that children with learning difficulties have special needs, but with our help they can, and often, succeed. Of course, our ability to help depends on the nature and severity of the problem. We'll be better able to determine if we can help after the evaluation. The evaluation will give us a good indication of his specific academic strengths and weaknesses.

Children with learning difficulties may suffer from a lack of focus, get easily distracted or lack organization. We'll observe your child on a one-to-one basis, and conduct observations of your child performing independent tasks. We'll have a chance to see the level at which he is comfortable, and the point at which he begins to frustrate. We'll see if he keeps on trying, or if he gives up easily. We work every day with children with learning disabilities, to help them focus, get organized, and stay on top of their studies so they don't fall behind. Our experience has taught us that these children learn and succeed with individualized attention.

Is testing conducted to see where my child needs help?

When you enroll your child at the Character Center for Kids, the first thing we do is conduct a personal assessment to discover his or her abilities, pinpoint problem areas, and develop an individualized instruction program based on the results.  Then we meet privately with you to review your child's strengths and weaknesses and recommend a comprehensive, personalized program of instruction.  By individually diagnosing what is keeping your child from doing his or her best and creating a program of instruction tailor-made to fit your child's needs, we are able to help students improve their skills, confidence, and motivation.

What kind of improvement can I expect to see?

At the Character Center for Kids, we help children get better grades, raise their test scores, and improve their study skills. And according to parents and students, we've also helped children develop a positive self-image, get motivated, and improve their self-esteem and confidence knowing they can succeed in school.
