Summer Academic & Enrichment Program

The Character Center for Kids will conduct a ten (10) week 'Race To The Top' summer program from June 6, 2011 to August 12, 2011. Summer program hours are Monday thru Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The cost is $105 per week. A $50 non-refundable registration fee is required. This summer, academic instruction will focus on science, math and reading as we help our students excel to the top of their class.

Summer activities focus on intensive academic study to prepare students for the upcoming academic school year, character-building, and enrichment activities. Academic instruction will include:

Reading & Writing: phonics, spelling, vocabulary, reading, comprehension, effective listening, grammar, and sentence and paragraph structure.

Math: basic computation, fractions, problem solving, measurement, and equations.

Individualized academic plans of study ( based upon an academic assessment).

Character-building activities will be incorporated into daily activities (through the B.E.A.V.E.R. curriculum) to teach students:

To Believe in themselves
How to take care and appreciate their Environment
Appropriate Appearance
Values (honesty and integrity)
Economics (saving for the future)
Respect (themselves and others)

Enrichment activities will include chess, karate, violin lessons, piano lessons, music theory, art, theatre, soccer and obesity training. Summer field trips will include bowling, skating, AMC movies, the Tallahassee Museum, St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge, and the FSU Reservation. Field trips are not included in the weekly tuition and will cost approximately $115 for the summer.
